From 1890, the Eton College Photographic Society held an annual Lantern Exhibition. For over 75 years these exhibitions invited audiences to marvel at the art of photography and the advances in camera technology.
Inspired by this premise, this exhibition, coming to the Verey Gallery in September 2026, will explore the history of photography through the daily life of the College revealed in the Photographic Archive collection; from the first photograph taken of Eton (a calotype by Henry Fox Talbot) to the digital photography of today.
