Thomas Gray’s ‘Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard’ (1751) is among the most well-known and best loved of all English poems. Long known as “Eton’s poet”, Gray’s legacy extends far beyond his college.
Through the books that he annotated as a pupil, the poems that he published and the remarkable draft manuscript that reveals the evolution of his greatest work, this exhibition in the 250th anniversary year of his death will tell the story of Thomas Gray from young Etonian to respected poet.
A physical exhibition in College Library is open to the public until 13 April 2022. To book an appointment please send an email to [email protected].
