The Sitwells collection
The Sitwells (Edith, Osbert and Sacheverell) were three siblings who formed an identifiable literary and artistic clique in London between 1916 and 1930. All three Sitwells wrote; collectively the trio produced almost 200 volumes of poetry, fiction, biography, music, art, and literary criticism, giving expression to their own kind of modernism; an amalgam of cubism, futurism, and dadaism best described as 'Sitwellism'. Individual biographies are given at series level. Both Osbert and Sacheverell Sitwell were Old Etonians.
1 box and 3 volumes
The collection consists mainly of manuscript material and correspondence by Osbert and Sacheverell Sitwell. Also included is a signed invitation to an exhibition private view of Pavel Tchelitchew's work from Edith Sitwell to Tom Balston.
Eton College Library also holds David Horner's archive (MS 437). Brian Horner was Osbert Sitwell's companion and therefore this collection contains additional Sitwell material.
